Call for Abstracts/Papers

The GeoOttawa 2017 conference organizing committee calls for members of the Canadian and international geotechnical and hydrogeological communities to contribute recent research developments and advancements in their respective fields of interest and practice. The technical program of the conference will cover a wide range of topics, including special sessions that are of local, national and international relevance to the fields of geotechnical engineering and hydrogeology.

Case studies, case histories and papers dealing with challenging geotechnical or hydrogeological problems are particularly sought. Papers illustrating innovative analysis techniques or solutions as well as research on recent trends or future prospects are encouraged.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts of a maximum of 300 words by the extended deadline of January 31, 2017 through the Online Submission page of the conference web site. Abstracts can be written in English or French.

Abstracts should generally fall within the following themes:

Geotechnical Themes

  • Soil Mechanics and Foundations
  • Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology
  • GeoHazards and Landslides
  • Mining Geotechnics and Hydrogeology
  • Geoenvironmental Engineering
  • Transportation Geotechnics

    • Shallow Geothermal Energy Exchange

Invitations for submission of full papers will be sent to authors whose abstracts are accepted by the conference’s Technical Subcommittee by February 15, 2017. The submitted papers will be reviewed prior to final acceptance for inclusion in the conference proceedings on a USB key, which each registrant will receive as part of their registration fee. At least one author of an accepted paper must register for the conference in order to upload a final paper and to be invited to make a presentation in the technical program.

Final decisions regarding the technical merit, relevance, and assigned session topic for accepted papers are the responsibility of the Technical Subcommittee. Questions regarding sessions, topics and the technical program should be directed to the Technical Subcommittee:

Geotechnical Sessions:
Paul Simms, CGS Technical Chair

Hydrogeological Sessions:
Nell van Walsum, IAH-CNC Representative
